Host: Will the wedding officiant attend the rehearsal?

Bill Cochran: That really depends on your officiant. I know some who absolutely refuse to got to rehearsals claiming that they are in a hurry to a wedding and that's true, they do. The rehearsal is really I feel more for the bride and groom and their guests. You have there a very unique gathering of people that will never be together again. You have childhood friends, uncles, aunts, favorites from both sides of the family and they all are together and your aunt who changed your diapers likes to remind everybody about it and you have all those kinds of things going on in the rehearsal and rehearsals if they run right, should be a very fun time and I see this as a time for everybody to let off steam and get rid of all their nervousness so when the real wedding day comes, they are ready for it.

So some officiants feel like, I don't need to be a part of that. But I save this to the folks that I work with and your officiant, you need to ask them about it. But I will say it really depends on you. If you want me there, I would be happy to be there. I do charge a little extra for going to the rehearsal because it's an option and a decision for the bride and groom to make.
