Host: How much does a wedding officiant cost? Bill Cochran: I hate to say this again, but it does depend on the area of the country you live in. On the East Coast where I am working, in the cities the average going price for wedding officiant is around $500. You maybe horrified by that, I know some people are, keep in mind wedding officiants are just trying to make a living too and though we like what we do and would love to do it for nothing, we have our financial pressures as well. So sometimes it's possible to negotiate a bit. The price I quoted you is what officiants charge on say on prime time like Friday night and Saturday. Some brides and grooms now are planing their weddings mid-week and they are getting discounts from a lot of different vendors including officiants. Sometimes a Sunday wedding isn't quite as pressing as a Saturday or Friday. If you press your officiant perhaps you could get a bit of a discount there. Again, it depends on the officiant, but you certainly have a right to bicker a little bit with them, it's your wedding.
