Host: Who signs the marriage license?

Rev Bill Cochran: In most jurisdictions nowadays it's just the wedding officiant. You sign when you go to apply for the marriage license and I know one of the questions related to this is what about my best man and my maid of honor? Because we have heard that witness needs to sign. It depends on the jurisdiction. A few still allow space for the signing of witness, but most of them nowadays just need the signature of the wedding officiant.
