Steve Lohr: Hi, I am Steve Lohr at Lohr's Lake in Sparta Virginia here to teach you how to water ski. Alright, now we are going to be talking about the equipment including the life jacket, rope and skis. First the life jacket should be Coast Guard approved and suitably sized for you. You can have a large jacket of this type all the way down to the smaller jackets that fit the toddler. The rope should be very sturdy, a good grip, good handles that you can hold on to well, no frees, new. All of this equipment can be bought at a marine dealership or at a sporting goods store. As far as the water ski, the water skis should be suitably sized for you, this is an adult model. The water skis in today's world are typically more popular. The binder should be very slug, very secure no rips, no tears and should be adjustable so that it could be snuggly placed upon your foot. That way the ski will become a part of your body when you are skiing . Skis can be of many different sizes. The skis we have here are junior skis that can be used by the 5 to say 12 year old. They can be either tied together or left apart. The trainer skis that we have there are tied together, there is a rope that the skier holds and then the rope is held by somebody in the boat in order to advance the very small skier. That's the water skis and jackets and rope that will we need. Next we will be talking about dry land instructions for water skiing.
