Steve Lohr: Hi, I am Steve Lohr from Lohr's Lake in Sparta, Virginia. I am here to teach you how to water ski . Today we are going to try to drop one ski and to do that we going to be comfortable riding two skis down the lake and first we got to lift one ski, slightly out of the water. When we do this we are going to be very careful not to let the tip of the ski touch the water. After lifting the ski several times you will be in a good position to then drop one ski. You let the binder slightly loose and you will lift the heel while you are keeping your knees and ankles bent, your arms straight and your eyes straight to the boat. You will lift the heel and let the ski come off and drag the top of the toes in the water. Once you drag the top of your toes for some distance you should be able to very carefully slide the toes back over to the back of the ski and place the foot on the ski and then eventually into the back binder. Once you ready to drop a ski be sure you dropping it in a location where it will not interfere with boat traffic and where it can be easily picked up and additionally be sure and go back and pick up the other ski as quickly as possible in order to avoid interfering with other boaters. Now that you have dropped the ski and are comfortable skiing on one ski, we will discuss further the proper form for water skiing on one ski.
