Jay Stewart: Hi, I am Jay Stewart and I am from Auntie Anne's, and I am here to show you how to make soft pretzels at home. We are now preparing our pretzels for baking. I have preheated my oven to 450 degrees, I have lightly sprayed my cookie sheet with the non stick cooking spray, and I have a half a cup of baking soda that I poured into a small mixing bowl with four cups of hot water. Now you don't want to water to hot to where you can't put your fingers in it, because trust me, that is the next step. So your are going to pour the water in and you are going to whip until your baking soda is nearly dissolved. Now that we have our baking soda nearly dissolved, now is when we are going to dip our pretzels. A very important tip, make sure you have a clean, dry, soft absorbent towel because this is where we are going to place our pretzels prior to placing it on our cookie sheet. You are going to grab your pretzels by their toes completely submerged in your baking solution and then blot the bottom side on your absorbent towel, and then place on your cookie sheet. Now depending on your cookie sheet at home, depends on how many pretzels you can place on your sheet. Unless our pretzels kits make about ten pretzels, unless you have a really big cookie sheet, you will probably end up using two. If your pretzels go on the tray on the cookie sheet with too much water, you do run the risk of bottoms burning while they are in the oven. There you have the tray of soft pretzels ready for baking. Next we will be topping our pretzels.
