Joe Wise: Hi, I am Joe Wise, owner of Buildwise Construction, in Orlando, Florida. Now, that we have left time for the prep work to dry, its time to go back and show you how to caulk this thing.

Remember, what I was telling you about being careful with a utility knife? Well, as you can see, I slipped a little bit and I had to pay the price and put a band-aid on it. First of all, you want to use a nice latex-base caulk some of which have microbands in them that resist fungus and mildew build-up. You just want to clip off the top at an angle, but even, most of them even show you at what angle to do that on. So you get a nice beveled edge so when you can caulk, it will come out smoothly. I am also going to use my sponge in this in which I have put water on and wetted so when I go over, it will smoothen the caulk out, evenly. So what we are going to do is we are going to -- this is a handheld caulk. We are just going push the caulk out. You don't want to get too much on this, because when you do, it just takes longer to make it look better. You want to get enough caulk and go slow enough that you get a good bond between the caulk and the tub. Don't worry too much about what it looks like at this step. Now when I come back, I am just going to hit it with my finger. I am going to wet my finger first and just hit it with a little bit often. I am going to get the biggest of the caulk right here. I am just going to back over with the wet sponge and get it good and just even it out and there you go. You have got a nice, clean bond between the substrate tub and the caulk that should prevent any damage to your tub surround area. The next thing we are going to show you is how to apply this around your sink and your countertop.
