Krista Heubusch: Hi, I am Krista with Skater's Quest and I am here to teach you the basics of inline skating. Howard will be demonstrating the Parallel Turn. There are three key steps to the Parallel Turn. Don't forget you always have to start in that ready position.

The first step is to scissor your inside skate forward. So as Howard is making a left turn his inside skate is his left skate. Second, Howard is going to roll on to his corresponding edges. Third, Howard is going to rotate his upper body into the direction of the turn. The Parallel Turn is a more intermediate turn because we are combining all four of our primary skills into one functional skill. So will be using our balance, our pressure application, our edging and our rotary motion, all in one skill. That is the Parallel Turn.

Next, we will show you how to do the Backward Swizzle when inline skating.
