Amy Stewart: Hi! I am Amy Stewart, and in this segment I am going to give you two ways that you can fertilize your plants with an organic source and that will enable your plants to grow the best way they possibly can. The first way is to just simply use a commercially prepared organic tablet. I pick these up at the farm and seed store. These things are huge, but they are not horse pills, alright.

So, all youve got to do with these is just simply take the tab and you can sort of situate it by putting it into your dirt and pushing it down with your thumb, kind of as far as you can. Its not terribly scientific, and then just make sure its covered, and one of those tabs should feed your garden for about six weeks. Keep an eye on it. Fertilizer, you can overdo.

The other option is to simply take some of the composts that you may have used either for your regular garden or that you may have in your kitchen or that you purchase at the farm store and sprinkle it into the dirt as the summer goes on because youve already got great compost in here already. As summer goes on, that stuff will start to break down, and the plants will be using it. So, youll want to potentially replenish that as the summer goes on, and that is the two places that I recommend you get your fertilizer from for potted plants.
