<span>Robert is a Dispensing Optician and the owner and founder of Robert Roope Opticians Ltd (<a>www.roope.co.uk</a>) and Retrospecs ( <a>www.retrospecs.co.uk</a> ) the online store specialising in vintage eyewear. Robert trained at the City University and City College London, and started his optical career during the fashion eyewear explosion of the 60’s, dispensing specs at Selfridges, Oxford Street in central London. Robert also worked in Copenhagen, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong, helping with the training of optical staff at small optical firms in the S E Asian region. Robert says that the arrival of fashion eyewear in the 60’s and 70’s dramatically changed eyewear from a badge of disability to a fashion accessory with everyone paying more attention to style of glasses they were wearing. Robert studied how face and eye cosmetic techniques could be applied to the choosing of frames to enhance facial appearance. </span>
