Tracy Egan: Hi! I am Tracy Egan and this is Tucker Jones and today we are learning the original swing dance the Lindy Hop.
So, weve learned the followers basic steps and the leaders basic steps and now we are going to put them together as a couple. So, first we have to learn the hand position. Where do we stand? So, we are going to stand with our shoulders square to each other and we are going to take the guys left hand, it is going to be low, you want it to be at the womans belly button height, and ladies are just going to rest your hand on that. We dont want to grab, if you start turning blue then its probably too tight. You just want to kind of rest your hand there and then ladies you want to put your hand on the front of his shoulder and thats so you can push him away. If he starts coming into your face you need to have that there. Alright, and then he is going to put his hand on your shoulder blade, and we dont want it lower, and we dont want it on our butt because this is not the proms night.
So, from here we are going to do exactly those steps that we were doing before. So, we are going to start with a rock step, we are both going to step backward away from each other. So, lets just do the rock step. Rock step and now we are going to do is step to the side, we are both going to go this way. Step step rock step step step rock step step step rock step.
.
. You can do triple-step here too. Rock step triple-step triple-step rock step triple triple, 1 2 3 and 4 5 and 6, 1 2.
.
. 3 and 4 5 and 6I want to show it you so you can see the followers from the back 5 6 7 8 rock step, triple-step triplestep rock step triple triple rock step.
Now, we will show it to you with the leaders, 5 6 7 8 rock step triple triple rock step triple triple rock step.
Nice job, and again it doesnt matter if you are doing single or triple, he can be doing single, I can be doing triple and it will all work out.
So, we have learned the followers basic foot steps, the leaders basic foot steps. We put it together as a couple and next we are going to learn a basic underarm turn.
