How to Make a Pear Tart

Ingredients

1 sheet Puff Pastry, Thawed
1 cup sugar, granulated
2 large cans Pear Halves
1 oz. Bourbon or Marsala
1 oz. vanilla extract
½ stick butter

Instructions

1.    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Using a large sauté pan over high heat, melt the sugar and stir slowly until it begins to turn light amber in color. Pour the caramelized sugar into a large cast iron skillet.
2.    Place the pears flat side down over the caramelized sugar in a circular pattern.
3.    Pour the marsala and vanilla over the pears.
4.    Add the ½ stick of butter over the top of the pears.
5.    Place the puff pastry sheet over the top and press down lightly. Tuck in the sides of the puff pastry and trim the excess.
6.    Bake in the oven for about 45 to 50 minutes or until the puff pastry is dark brown.
7.    Remove from the oven and allow to set for 40 minutes at room temperature.
8.    Flip the pan over on a clean sheet tray.
9.    Serve with vanilla ice cream.
