Hi, I am Terry Dean from Terry Deans Dance Studio, were teaching the tango. Now, were going to teach the basic lunge, basic lunge is very important to create shapes and lines. Everything we do in dancing is about creating a different look. We have already talked about being very dramatic in the tango, and the lunge is one where you can really show off. Basic lunge is going to be -- first I will demonstrate with Cindy. Again, you get down on your knees, youre very dramatic. Man steps back and she shapes into him, thats your T and out on A-N-G-O. We go T-A-N-G-O. So, its not much the way that the feet are concerned, were just stepping back and forth. I will demonstrate the man. He goes a back step. He replaces his weight forward and then does his N-G-O, or forward, side, close. So, it goes T-A-N-G-O, remember not to change weight on the O. One more time, T, he steps back, A-N-G-O. So, when he is stepping back, the lady is going to be stepping forward. She steps with the heel of her foot, T, and when she does that she brings her hips forward and creates the shape; T-A, she goes back, and N-G-O. One more time, T-A-N-G-O. Now, Cindy will demonstrate, make it really look good, T-A-N-G-O, T-A-N-G-O. Thats a basic forward lunge. Its one of the most important components of the tango to make you have that really dramatic look. Next, were going to put them altogether so you can kind of have an idea of what the tango is supposed to look like.
