Jim Davis: Hi there, Chef Jim Davis here for Harris Teeter. I'm going to show you now how to use a Chef's knife and effectively slice vegetables. This is a carrot that's already been peeled. I'm going to cut off the top of the carrot. I'm going to hold my fingers like a claw so that my knuckle is forward of the nail and I'm going to make my slices just like that.
Now once I've got where I want to go, I just simply pick up my knife and I slice. Now if I want to do that more rapidly, then I would get back here. That is how you slice with a Chef's knife.
