Hi, I'm Cheryl Cullina and I'm a cardio kickbox instructor. This video is all about cardio kickbox techniques and I would like to show you one of the basic kicks, and that is a roundhouse kick. Remember your safety positions, just like the sidekick, we turn the standing leg in so that the heel points in the direction of the target. This roundhouse kick is a little bit different than a sidekick. A roundhouse kick starts with your heel back and your knee in line with your hip. Its a kick with the shoelace, and a heel pulls back rather than the knee into the chest like on the sidekick. Let me demonstrate it from a side view so that you can see the difference. We're going to set the bottom heel, we're going to give ourselves a target, take a look at the target, heel back, foot, knee, hip, all in a straight line, push with the shoelace, bring it back and set it down. That's a roundhouse kick, lets move on.
