Cary Ferrell: Hi! My name is Cary Ferrell, PGA instructor at Dulles Golf Center; I am going to show you how to Chip.

The difference between Putting and Chipping, basically the stroke is the same; all I am going to do is use a Lofted Club.

Most people think that when you get near the green, the most important thing is to get the ball up; what you are really trying to do is, swing it just like a long putt, the loft will take the ball in the air. You dont have to lift it; the loft will take it up.

Same stroke is our putting stroke. Shoulders and arms, no wrists, keep your head as still as you can. Put more weight on your left side, bow back in your stance, shoulders and arms and no wrists, just like a pendulum.

Just because you are getting near the green, doesnt mean pull the sandwedge or the pitching wedge. Keep the ball low and running.

You can chip with every club in your bag; some people are even using hybrids or Rescue Clubs; they are even using their Woods sometimes.

Again, just like a long putt, keep your head still, shoulders and arms, no wrists, no breakdown; dont try to help the ball in the air, dont try to flip it - and thats your basic chipping stroke.
